Who Does What?

In some ways, running a church is like managing a business – it has to be organised! The spiritual element falls naturally to the Vicar but in parallel, the day to day practicalities are looked after by people who give their time, often a great deal of it, for the benefit of the church and the wider community.

The VicarThe Vicar is responsible for the spiritual leadership of the parish and the development of the church and its relationship to the wider community.

This post is currently vacant. Services are taken by visiting priests.
The Parochial Church CouncilThe PCC is chaired by the Vicar and is the body charged with the general management of the church.
The members are collectively responsible for the smooth running of All Saints’ as an organisation.
The Church WardensThe Wardens support the Vicar in the day to day management of the church.
Among their many duties they arrange for the opening and closing of the church, set up for services and ensure that the congregation, visitors, church building and churchyard are all properly cared for.
They are helped in this work by several voluntary teams.
The TreasurerThe Treasurer monitors the income and expenditure including the Parish Share (see the ‘How is the Church Funded?’ page) and the day to day running costs.
The VolunteersThe Choir lead the hymn singing during the services and, when requested, sing at wedding and funeral services held in the Church.
The Bell Ringers ring the peal of five bells every Sunday, and special occasions and, when requested, for weddings.
The Flower Team ensure that the church always has colour and is welcoming to visitors.
The Cleaning Team vacuum, dust, polish, tidy up and keep the interior looking fresh and cared for.
The Churchyard Team help keep the churchyard under control, weeding, trimming, cutting the grass, maintaining the trees.
The Events CommitteeThe Events Committee raise funds specifically to contribute to the Church running costs.

The Friends of All SaintsThe Friends raise funds to maintain and restore the fabric of the church.
